Practical information for your stay.

Changeover days, cleaning, payment, the route, and answers to questions guests often ask.

Arrival and departure

Changeover day is Sunday. Arrival from 4 pm, departure before 10 am. Other days are possible by arrangement outside the high season.

Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive the route description and key information by email. We are usually present on arrival to give you a brief tour of the house.

Cleaning and bed linen

The final cleaning charge of € 125 is mandatory and invoiced separately with the booking. The beds are made up on your arrival, with all sheets and fitted sheets included.

Bath and pool towels are not provided; please bring your own. Cot bedding is also to be brought yourself if you use the cot.

Deposit and payment

The € 500 security deposit is paid before arrival and refunded within one week of departure, provided the house is left clean and undamaged.

The deposit on the rental is 35% at booking. The balance is due no later than six weeks before arrival. We recommend you take out your own cancellation insurance.

Payment by bank transfer in euros. We do not accept credit cards.

Travelling with children

The house sleeps up to six adults plus a baby. A cot and high chair are provided. Cot bedding is to be brought yourself.

The garden is fully fenced, allowing small children to play freely. The pool has no separate gate; young children should remain supervised.

Travelling with a dog

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. A calm, non-shedding dog is welcome without further conditions. For other pets please discuss in advance.

The garden fence is dog-friendly. Quiet woodland walking paths nearby for daily walks.

Route and surroundings

From the UK, an overnight ferry to Caen or Cherbourg followed by around six to seven hours by road. From the Netherlands, around eleven hours via Paris and Limoges. Flying via Bergerac (50 minutes) or Bordeaux (1.5 hours) airport with a hire car is also straightforward.

The closest supermarket is a Carrefour Express in Belvès, five minutes by car. A larger Carrefour in Saint-Cyprien, fifteen minutes. A doctor’s surgery and pharmacy are located in Belvès.

Frequently asked questions

Can I arrive earlier or leave later?

Often possible outside the high season, in agreement with us. Extending by a day is generally fine if the following week is not yet booked.

Is the Wi-Fi strong enough to work from the house?

Yes. The house is on a fibre connection, with signal reaching to the pool. Suitable for video calls and remote work.

Is the pool heated all year?

The pool is heated from April through October and reaches a comfortable 27 degrees between May and September. In winter the pool is covered and out of use.

How far is the nearest supermarket?

A Carrefour Express in Belvès, five minutes by car for daily shopping. A larger Carrefour branch in Saint-Cyprien, fifteen minutes, for the weekly shop.

Is there a restaurant within walking distance?

Yes, two. Lou Cigalou and Le Bistro are both five minutes on foot in St Laurent La Vallée. In Belvès, five minutes by car, several terraces and restaurants.

What languages do Richard and Liesbeth speak?

Dutch, English and German. For French, a friendly neighbour is available.

Do you accept credit cards?

No, payment by bank transfer in euros.

Is there parking at the house?

Yes, on-site, for at least three cars.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

If you cancel more than six weeks before arrival, the 35% deposit is retained. Cancellations within six weeks of arrival are charged the full rental amount. We recommend taking out your own cancellation insurance.

What if something breaks during my stay?

Call or send a message. Richard sorts most practical issues himself, or sends the right person round.
